Sometimes, even college football’s best make uncharacteristic decisions. But for Ohio State’s Justin Fields, it didn’t cost the Buckeyes during Saturday’s 42-35 win over 10th-ranked Indiana.
“I didn’t play well at all,” Fields said after the game. “I have to improve. I have to be better. That’s all I really have to say.”
That was the first of two pivotal contests in the Big Ten to highlight Week 12 as Northwestern upended Wisconsin, 17-7, to leap past the Badgers in Sunday’s projected Top 25. The new rankings from Associated Press voters will be the final grouping prior to Tuesday’s first College Football Playoff Top 25 from the selection committee.
That’s what made Saturday’s host of games, including Oklahoma State-Oklahoma in the nightcap, pivotal prior the committee’s first gathering.
