Padres, Kela Agree On Deal (report) (www.mlb.com)

The Padres and free-agent reliever

have agreed on a deal, MLB Network insider Jon Heyman reported on Monday. The club has not confirmed the deal, which is pending a physical.

The 27-year-old righty appeared in just three games for the Pirates last year before his season was cut short in August due to right forearm inflammation. Kela went 2-0 with a 2.12 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with a save and six holds over 32 appearances for the Bucs in 2019. He’s compiled a 21-11 record with a 3.24 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP with 28 saves over six seasons in the Majors with the Rangers and Pirates.
