Designated hitter Nelson Cruz is staying with the Twins, as a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand Tuesday night that the 40-year-old slugger has agreed to a one-year, $13 million deal with Minnesota. The club hasn’t confirmed.

Cruz is coming off two successful years with the Twins from a contract signed before the 2019 season. In the first year, he led Minnesota with 41 home runs as the Bomba Squad set the single-season record for home runs by a team with 307. In 2020, Cruz hit 16 homers in 53 games.
Cruz, entering his 17th Major League season, has hit 417 home runs over 1,742 games.
