It’s Bob Gibson Week on MLB Network, so tune in for some great features on the Cardinals legend.
Bob Gibson Week begins on Monday with Bob Costas taking a look at the Hall of Fame pitcher’s life and career — which included two Cy Young Awards, the 1968 NL MVP Award, two World Series championships with St. Louis and some of the greatest Fall Classic pitching performances of all time.
This week also features the debut of MLB Network’s “Black Magic” series on Tuesday. In the first episode of Black Magic, former Mets ace Dwight Gooden and Mariners first baseman Alvin Davis talk about their meeting at the 1984 All-Star Game during their Rookie of the Year Award-winning seasons.
Gibson Week continues with a Brian Kenny essay on Gibson on Wednesday and a Bob Gibson breakdown on Thursday, before wrapping up Friday with current Cardinals ace Jack Flaherty discussing Gibson.
There are also vignettes on Gibson from modern-day Major League pitchers throughout the week — Flaherty on Monday, Marcus Stroman on Tuesday, David Price on Wednesday, Devin Williams on Thursday and CC Sabathia on Friday.
