Recurring problems followed Michigan into Saturday night’s prime-time game on Big Ten Network at Rutgers. After the first half at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, Rutgers (1-3) held a 17-7 lead over Michigan (1-3).

“Again, we keep talking about trying to figure out Michigan,” said Kirk Herbstreit, ESPN analyst,

. “When we called that game last week, you go based on the way they’ve played against Michigan State, Indiana and Wisconsin. … If Rutgers and Michigan in the crazy year of 2020 went into the locker room and decided to switch units and came out onto the field, I don’t think you could tell the difference. That about sums up where Michigan is right now as far as their playmaking ability. If Rutgers and Michigan switched uniforms, you’d say, ‘Wow, look at Rutgers.'”
