The Marlins have acquired reliever John Curtiss from the Rays for first-base prospect Evan Edwards, according to a report by MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal on Wednesday. Neither club has confirmed the trade.
The right-handed Curtiss, 27, pitched 25 innings over 17 appearances last season, recording a 1.80 ERA and 25 strikeouts. He pitched in parts of three previous seasons for the Twins and Angels.
The left-handed-hitting Edwards, 23, was Miami’s fourth-round pick in the 2019 Draft. He hit .330 for North Carolina State that year prior to the Draft.
