The Nationals have agreed on a one-year deal with former Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber, a source told MLB.com reporter Mark Feinsand. Schwarber is to receive $10 million, according to a report from ESPN’s Jesse Rogers. The club has not confirmed the deal, which is pending a physical.

Schwarber hit 121 home runs in six years with Chicago and figured heavily in their 2016 World Series championship. After a career-high 38 home runs in 2019, he hit just .188 in 2020 with 11 home runs in 59 games. Schwarber was non-tendered last month.

Schwarber joins Josh Bell, another decorated power hitter acquired by Washington this winter.
