Jazz Send Ed Davis To Knicks In Order To Shed Salary

The Utah Jazz made a move on Thursday that sent Ed Davis to the New York Knicks. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that Utah will also be sending two 2023 second-round picks in the deal as well, with New York absorbing Davis’ contract into their cap space.

It’s unclear what New York will send in the deal.

This deal will save Utah $5 million in salary for the upcoming season, which is crucial in their efforts to re-sign Jordan Clarkson and extend Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert in the near future. For them, it was worth giving up two second-round picks for the Knicks to take on Davis’ salary.

Davis is 31 years old and had the worst campaign of his career last season with Utah. He averaged just 1.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest and appeared in only 28 total games.
