MILWAUKEE — The Brewers continued stockpiling utility types on Wednesday when the club announced it had re-signed Jace Peterson to a Minor League contract with an invitation to big league camp.

Peterson, 30, played in 26 games for the Brewers last season and made starts at first base, third base, left field and right field, and also saw some action at second base. He slashed .200/.393/.356 in 61 plate appearances.

The deal came a day after the team reached an

, according to a source, on a big league deal (the Brewers have not yet confirmed that signing as of Wednesday morning) and on the heels of acquiring Tim Lopes, Pablo Reyes and Zach Green this offseason, plus Billy McKinney late last season. All are versatile defenders without much of an offensive track record in MLB.
